Types-of-Ear-Candles

Ear Candling also called ear coning or thermal-auricular therapy is a therapy whereby a hollow candle, made from cotton or muslin cloth and has been soaked in beeswax or paraffin with the scent of honey, sage and camomile. The warmth created by the flame creates a vacuum, which provides suction to help extract any earwax and other impurities out of the ear canal and into the hollow candle. It not only has health benefits but is a deeply relaxing treatment. After the treatment has finished, we provide a lovely scalp, facial, ear, and sinus massage bringing your treatment to 40 minutes.

Auricular Ear Candling - The Philosophy.

This traditional technique dates back to the ancient Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks. The exact history is rather obscure. It has been stated that people from Tibet, China, Egypt, the Pre-Columbian Americas, and possibly even the mythical city of Atlantis, participated in ear candling. Mayan, Aztec, and American Indians used ear candles, too. Some Indian tribes blew herbal smoke into the ear through a cone-shaped object. Ear candling was considered "a spiritual process for clearing the mind and senses."

Ear-Candling

What are
the benefits?

01

Earwax removal

The wax in the ears heats up, loosening it. Some wax will be drawn into the candle itself but the vacuum will continue for the next day or two. It usually comes out of the ears naturally within the next 24-48 hours. Providing better hearing and just generally relieving the feeling of blocked ears.

03

Deep relaxation

Your ear candling treatment will be warming and calming with recipients saying the candle sounds like rain. Paired with a gentle massage, with the use of an amethyst face roller, it makes for a truly relaxing experience.

02

Relief from heatlh problems

Ear candling is used to detoxify and relieve symptoms of ears, nose and throat. Many people report benefits such as relief from headaches and migraines, tinnitus, sinusitis, stress and anxiety, alongside dizziness, snoring, and vertigo, these benefits continue after regular treatments.

04

Cleansing and clearing

Impurities or blockages can be removed during Auricular Ear Candling, clearing out the ears and surrounding passages. Hayfever and sinusitis sufferers can really feel the benefits.

What to
Expect...

After an initial consultation, you will lie on your side, with a towel to cover your hair. The first candle is inserted carefully into your ear, once lit the vacuum begins to form. The sound of crackling like a sparkler or the sound of rain has been said to be experienced. If you can't hear a lot, it may be that your ear is particularly blocked and you could experience a popping sound when it is cleared. The other side is done shortly after and it is followed by a lovely scalp, face and sinus draining massage. We incorporate an amethyst facial roller, which is cool and calming on the skin.

What are the most common post-treatment effects?

It's perfectly normal to experience the following feelings after the treatment. These are known as contra-actions:

âž” A sticky feeling within the ears or the loosing of ear wax.
âž” Cold-like symptoms
âž” Improvement in clarity of sound
âž” Headache or Slight dizziness
âž” Slight dryness in the throat
âž” Lighter feeling in the head and face due to sinus pressure relief

These reactions will last no longer than 24-48 hours, but if you have any concerns please feel free to get in contact with me. I tend to suggest the following aftercare guidance:

  • Massage the backs of your ears to encourage any additional wax or debris to work its way out of your ear.

  •  Do not submerge your head underwater for 24 hours after your treatment.

  • Try to avoid cold air blowing into your ears.

  • Do not insert anything, including cotton buds inside your ears.

  • Drinking plenty of water, squash, or herbal teas to help eliminate toxins and flush out the lymphatic system.

  • If you experience a runny nose please blow it rather than sniffing.

  • If you had a bit of a cold at the time of your treatment please note your symptoms may get worse.

  • Ear wax/residue may naturally work its way out of the ear over the following 24-48 hours, this is normal.

Most people need a follow-up treatment depending on the ear complaint or condition. After the first treatment, I will analyse your results to allow me to recommend a treatment course of ear candling, but only if I believe it would be beneficial.

If you block book these appointments you will receive 10% off the final treatment.

I felt very relaxed and comfortable. The treatment explanation was pitched perfectly so I could understand the process. I loved the additional facial massage which I haven't had anywhere else.
